Dwight's Song

I keep my mouth shut when I’m outside
I slowly page through the classifieds
I don’t even know why    my toes get cold
I don’t want to wear my    trousers rolled

I have a big collection of toy airplanes
I bring them out when it rains
But I’m not really sure where they all came from
Closing my eyes    I fly them into the sunshine,
Where everything turns out fine

I don’t want to disappear
I don’t want to live in fear
Till it slowly fades away
If there’s no more games to play
I don’t want to make you stay
awake tonight, and when you
lay beside my head tonight are you afraid,

I always thought I’d learn the saxophone
And I never thought I’d live in the old folks home
Every day I learn the rules    but the rules have changed
If I could remember your face every time it gets rearranged.

I call your name out when I think I’m alone
I close my eyes and think of every home
Every home that I’ve lived in, every place I’ve laid my head
I write myself notes so I’ll remember the books I’ve read

I don’t want to disappear
I don’t want to live in fear
Till it slowly fades away
If there’s no more games to play
Then I don’t want to make you stay
Awake tonight, and when you
Lay beside my head tonight, yeah when you
Lay beside my head tonight
Are you afraid?
